Mail-In Alterations: How to Ship Your Clothes to a Tailor
Not everyone is in NYC. We get it. That's why we accept mail-ins from anywhere in the world.
Here's exactly how it works, step by step.
Step 1: Send Us Photos
Before you ship anything, take photos. Front, back, detail shots of the areas that need work. Email them to studio@taailor.shop with a description of what you want done. Be specific: "take in 2 inches at the waist" is better than "make it tighter."
Step 2: Get a Quote
We review your photos and reply within 24 hours with a written estimate. No surprises. If we need more info, we'll ask. If the work isn't worth it at the price, we'll tell you that too.
Step 3: Ship Your Garment
Once you approve the quote, ship your garment to us. Use a tracked service — USPS Priority or UPS. Pack it flat in a poly mailer or box. Don't fold it into a tiny ball. Include a note with your name, email, and what we discussed.
Step 4: The Reference Piece Trick
This is the cheat code most people miss: if you have a garment that already fits you perfectly, send it with the one that doesn't. We use the well-fitting piece as a reference. Way more accurate than measurements you take yourself.
Step 5: We Work, You Track
Your garment gets an order code. Track progress at taailor.shop/track. Standard turnaround is 10–14 days from when we receive it. Rush is available.
Step 6: We Ship Back
Finished garment shipped back to you, insured. If something isn't quite right, we make it so — just reach out within 7 days.
The whole process typically takes 2–3 weeks door to door. Book at taailor.shop/book and select "Mail-In" as your service type.
